Bearded Dragons are often known to bask with their mouths open for a long period of time while basking. Ever notice that specifically while your beardie is resting in his happy little basking spot, he or she might prop their mouth open? When it comes to bearded dragons though, shedding (molting or sloughing) is much more obvious and is when your dragon casts off its old skin leaving a fresh, new epidermis (outer skin) underneath. Reason number #2: Bearded dragon’s tank is cold This is typically a very normal bearded dragon behavior. Bearded dragon shedding, also known as ecdysis may sound exotic but is a natural process with all animals even we humans shed off dead skin cells every day. Bring them out of their tank, take them outside, and ultimately try to keep them active. One of the best ways to stop bearded dragon brumation, is to start handling your bearded dragon more. While basking is the most probable reason of a bearded dragon sleeping all day, you must not confuse it with sickness or other causes. Provide proper UV lighting for your bearded dragon.
